Folk makes a donation to Ronald McDonald House
Our Giftmas-in-July fundraiser is put to bed
We wanted to stage a ‘Christmas-in-July’ event – to raise our spirits and some money for a local charity, during Sydney’s darkest months.
We (or rather, Andy, above) asked around to find a charity we could feasibily, practically and modestly contribute to.
Ronald McDonald House provides a ‘home away from home’ for the families of seriously ill children at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. They are in desperate need of doonas, their most expensive single ticket item. We learnt.
We each made a $10+ Doonation. With the total rounded up a little, we were able to buy five doonas, as a gift to RMH, to help keep more families together and warm throughout this, and subsequent, winters. (Ronald McDonald House were McChuffed. Well done Andy for sorting it. There he is, above, presenting our doonas to Emma Vincin of RMH.)
Back at Folk, fun was had by all. We enjoyed festive food, mulled wine, a giant all-in game of Pictionary (which got competitive), and a Christmas-y singalong (which got repetitive).
It was all for a good Claus.
